Anybody using a hidden kill switch?

Which did you disable? Fuel, spark or the starter motor or something else?
Any pros or cons associated with either options?

I am.. besides the kill switch that comes with my alarm, I am wired in another manual kill switch off the msd. It kills the spark. I will crank but you will never get it to fire up I think I trust it more than my alarm to be honest.

The spark kill sounds like a very good idea. Is there an issue with turning the engine over alot and dousing the cylinders with gas? I guess thats better than having the car stolen...

Car alarms are pretty much there just to stop the jokers and joy riders any more and maybe get you a little discount on your insurance. If somebody wants you car bad enough a kill switch ain't gonna stop 'em. A client of mine has both of his GS-Rs stollen out of his apartment's lot (his and his wife's). Both had alarms and kill switches. The theives just rolled up with a big flatbed tow truck, loaded the cars up onto the truck and rolled away in less then 20 minutes.

I only have an alarm in my car because a) it lets me lock and unlock it remotely and b) maybe I'll hear it at night if some punk tries to take my car.

A good trick I have learned. Yank the J&S box and the car is going NOWHERE. In addition to the alarm, the only way they are getting the car is towing it away.

-I dont know how much to trust electronics anymore. Always hear about the code grabbers, and cars getting stolen...

I used to drive a tow truck when I was a kid...

1. E-Brake.
2. Leave it in First
3. Turn the wheels to a side

This makes them harder to load, but definitely not impossible. Most wreckers are made to "transport" cars, not "recover" them... the transport wreckers have lighter duty winches which aren't designed for heavy pulls.

If you can park like a clown (sideways almost touching buildings), Pull into space forward (makes the cars swing onto the beds) park over curb corners. Put your car between a tree and another car. At the mall, park between the concrete pillars.

I've never been "jacked" (big knock on my desk) but I've been pretty careful for the last few years.

2 big floor jacks and any type of tow truck or towing machanism is all it takes!!! I don't participate in such acts and I always hated it, but I had some long lost friends that did this as a hobby. Also, please put a switch on the hood and a SMART proximity sensor so that the alarm WILL go off.

The other week, I had my M3 towed from my friends place (no visitor parking permit).

I ran outside to find the tow truck towing my car out of the parking spot. He nearly ran over me as he pulled out. I finally caught up to him, and demanded he let my car go. He lowered the car and drove off WITHOUT even getting out of the tow truck to release it!!

It looked like a device that lifted the rear end just enough to be able to tow it away.

It takes less than 30 seconds to tow.
